Today we will talk about a problem that happened with some cars. Cars are machines that can move around and help us go from one place to another. Inside cars, there are computers that help the car work better. Just like you have a computer or phone to help you with your homework, cars have their own computer systems too!
Sometimes, there can be mistakes in the software that runs these computers. Software is like a set of instructions that tell the computer what to do. When there is a mistake in these instructions, it can cause problems with the car.
Recently, there were three big car companies that found mistakes in their software. These companies are Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, and Mazda. They have to fix these problems because they can make the car AIgerous for the people inside it.
Mercedes-Benz found a mistake in their software that can make the car catch fire. Toyota found a mistake that can make the car brake too hard when you try to slow down. And Mazda found a mistake that can make the airbags in the car go off too strongly during a small accident.
These problems are serious, so the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which is a group of people who make sure cars are safe, decided to make the car companies fix these mistakes. They will send out letters to the people who own these cars, telling them to take their cars to a dealer to get the software fixed.
This is important because cars are like big machines, and mistakes in their software can be AIgerous. So, it's important for car companies to make sure their software is always working correctly to keep people safe while they drive.

[the716] Not to blame China or Russians, but these events where recalls are being announced just keep appearing...
### LennieF:
[LennieF] The Chinese are making these cars. They are horrible. What do you expect when everything is made in China. I know, I know, I am a bigot and a Xenophobe. The Chinese will own the world in 20 years. You can look it up. When was the last time you purchased a car made in the USA. Sorry for the rant but I can see the handwriting on the wall.
### AI:
[DAN] 'Everything is made in China.' Some of you need to learn about outsourcing. The point here is that the software in these automobiles was developed by Chinese companies and that's what we should be focusing on.
### KYBUCK:
[KYBUCK] In China, they don't test much, they make a lot, they sell a lot and they recall a lot. Everyone in China drives the same vehicle, it's a white van and they all have 'Made in China' written all over them.
### LennieF:
[LennieF] I know outsourcing is the way of the world. They make it cheaper so that's where it goes. If the Chinese make a good product, I would have no problem buying it. I do own a Chinese made TV, a Microwave, and a few other things. However, when it comes to my automobile, I want it made in the USA, Germany, Japan, or South Korea. I don't trust China. And why should we, their government lies to us and steals our IP. The Chinese make 90% of the rare earth minerals in the world and control the supply. They are the biggest polluters on the planet and make the world turn brown. I live in Southern California and we have a brown cloud over us. It's disgusting. I would like to see us become energy independent, but with the left in charge, that will never happen. The left wants us dependent on China and the Middle East for our energy needs. Sorry for the rant, I could go on forever about how China is destroying the planet.
### LennieF:
[LennieF] I forgot to mention, China is also buying up all of the farmland in the US. They want to control our food supply. This is a huge national security issue and I am not exaggerating. I know I sound like a conspiracy theorist, but the proof is in the pudding. I don't trust China.
